Forbes ranks these celebrities based on their wealth, fame, as well as their influence. From the Forbes 100 most powerful celebrities list, we have selected the top 10 most powerful celebrities. Beyoncé, the queen of music, tops Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most powerful celebrities in 2014. Mrs. Carter earned an estimated $115 million in the last 12 months with her surprise self-titled album, lucrative endorsements and also her mastery of social media. This was mentioned by an editor behind the list to the Daily News.
She said that the popular singer, who is now 32, clinched her right to reign supreme when she released her concept album on iTunes last December with no advance publicity and a companion video for each song.
2. LeBron James
Second on the list was the NBA’s top player LeBron James, who has moved up from 16th place last year after opting out of his contract with the Miami Heat to explore new options. LeBron James cashed in about $72 million in 2014.
3. Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre, who is a music mogul, rose all the way from the 63rd spot to third place by cashing in an incredible, eye-popping $620 million in the last year. He recently sold his Beats line of headphones and electronics to Apple for $3 billion. His deal to sell his headphone maker, Beats Electronic, for $3 billion to Apple has boosted his net worth to around $700 million. No wonder he decided to upgrade, dropping a reported $40 million on an 18,000-square-foot Brentwood mansion formerly owned by Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen.
4. Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey fell to fourth place from the No. 1 spot in 2013, but remained in the top five thanks to her OWN cable network becoming cash-flow positive in 2013 and her work on Lee Daniels’ hit movie “The Butler.” Oprah earned a whopping $82 million in 2014. The mogul has a sprawling complex in Montecito, the hilly, ritzy enclave that abuts Santa Barbara, 90 miles north of Los Angeles.
5. Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres moved up to No. 5 from 10th place last year. Ellen netted in a cool $75 million last year. This year, she nabbed the Brody House, a Midcentury Modern built in 1950 for modernist art collector Frances Brody and her developer husband Sidney. Designed by A. Quincy Jones, the property is considered one of the premier jewels of Los Angeles real estate.
The musician and husband to Beyoncé came at number 6, having cashed in an amazing $60 million.
7. Floyd Mayweather
Floyd Mayweather has secured his place as the highest paid athlete in the world and he continues to hold the spot. He earned a cool $105 million in 2014. And after the match against Pacquiao, Mayweather earn in his win over estimated of $180 million.
The singer from Barbados finished in at the eighth position, thanks in part to her huge social media presence. Rihanna earned $48 million in 2014 and reportedly purchased a $22 million property back home in Barbados.
9. Katy Perry
The songstress came in 9th. Katy Perry has earned about $40 million over the course of the year.
10. Robert Downey Jr
This actor has earned an estimated $75 million over the past year, landing him at the 10th spot.
